I know my dog is a mix of some sort, but I have no idea what (I used to think a bit of daschaund cause of his head). Every time I think I have it, someone mentions something else. I believe now he is a mix of pitbull/boxer, greyhound, and pointer. He is brindle except for his white chest, has a large chest cavity and small back end, and he does point when he senses something. He is 40 pounds of pure muscle and isn’t taller than my knee. He runs extremely fast and has lots of energy. He is very friendly. He will have hip dysplasia when he is older. Look at these pictures:
Tell me what you think.
Yes, he is a very beautiful pup! I love him and he acts like a person sometimes. I will never have another doggie like him.
He does kinda look like a mini Canary Dog. Thanks for everyone’s input! Keep it coming!
Wow, he does look like a Vizsla if they were smaller and brindle. Cute!

How good is glucosamine and chondroitin for hip dysplasia?
My dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. I read online that a supplement of glucosamine and chondroitin could make a difference. I talked to the vet and he said it was okay, but he tried to sell me Cosequin, which costs $40. I was wondering if there’s a cheaper option? There are many store brands of that supplement that cost a lot less, but they are intended for human use. Can I use them for my 11 pound baby dog? I want to start giving them to him asap, but I’m really broke and can’t afford the $40 Cosequin. Is there any difference between Cosequin and store brands? Please help me.
Save your money. It doesn’t work for dogs or people. Dysplasia is a medical/physical. It’d be like trying to treat a broken leg with motrin. Cosequin isn’t any better. Aspirin works. Usually your best option is surgery.
Cosequin plays an important role in maintaining optimal joint function. Healthy articular (joint) cartilage is crucial to joint utility. Cosequin helps support cartilage production and protect existing cartilage from breakdown. Cosequin is the only glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate supplement that has been shown safe, effective, and bioavailable in peer-reviewed, published, controlled, U.S. veterina…
