Is Uncle Matty Dog Training any good?

I was just wondering if anyone has used this service and what results you got and if it is worth checking into.

I have not heard his name for years.

I was in an infomercial for him many years ago with my dog.

I don’t think much of him as a trainer, he really was ahead of his time in marketing though and was big here in Southern California for a time. He did use an annoying hight pitch voiced with the dogs that made nails on a chalk board sound good.

I totally love the Thumb loop leash he sells on his website. Its what I use in competition and training for obedience.

Getting Rid of the Flea

When your dog suffered from fleas, they will have some symptoms, such too much scratching, hair loss, skin irritation, chewing and biting their own tail or rear bodies. Your dog’s skin can be irritated because of the fleabites. Washing them with flea shampoo is the first thing to do to get rid of the fleas. After that, you can use a special flea comb to trap the flea. To make it more effective, it is better if the comb is dipped into the soapy water first before combing your dog.

After that, you can start applying a flea repellent to your dog. There are various repellents available in the market, but it is better to take the mild one first as the start application. If later you think that you need the stronger one to get rid of the fleas, you may do so. Besides that, a flea away powder and essential oils can also be an option for you. Their applications are easy to do as you can just pour the powder over your dog’s skin and spray the oil over your dog’s coat. Essential oils that you may use can be the ones made from tea tree, cedar, citronella and lavender.

The flea can also be from the surrounding area. Therefore, it is crucial to make sure that you also get rid of the flea from your home surrounding by cleaning and vacuuming the area. The substance that you can use is borax. It is a natural powder, which is powerful for cleaning. To give thorough prevention, you also need to spray the flea away substance over your yards. Since such substance is not water proof, you need to repeat the spaying after the rain falls.

The fleas generally attack puppies or kittens, especially when they are weak in immune due to malnourished factor. One effective way to prevent your pet of getting any flea attack is by having a healthy diet. You can add some supplements to your pet to keep the fleas away, such as brewer’s yeast and garlic.

For recommendation, you can use Frontline Plus and Advantage as effective medicines to get rid of the fleas. They have been proven to be very good as the fleas can be eliminated within 18 hours or so. Besides the flea, these substances are capable of eliminating the larvae as well as the eggs. If you want your dog to have some intake medicines, you can refer to Capstar or Sentinel. However, when your dogs are still underage, it is better to consult to your veterinarian first before you use any flea application.

Dogs And Pets Provide Health Benefits

Do dogs provide health benefits? Believe it or not they do! Did you know that owning a dog and pet ownership in general, can help a person in many ways? Owning a pet can improve your mental wellness, reduce your visits to the doctor, improve your cardiovascular health and allow for faster recovery time from surgery as well as higher survival rates. Recent research suggests that dogs may be able to detect cancer on a person’s breath! Lets’ explore these amazing health benefits of pet ownership:

It has been proven that dog owners have lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels than non-dog owners. These factors, in turn, reduce the chance of cardiovascular diseases. In fact, just stroking a pet has long been known to reduce blood pressure. Furthermore, a study from the New York State University concluded that these benefits continue even without the pet being present!

Hospital studies have shown that senior citizens and recent post-op patients respond better to treatment and recover faster while in contact with dogs and other therapy animals. Did you know that dog owners have a greater chance to survive a serious illness than non-dog owners? In fact, a study revealed that a pet affected a person’s survival rate even more than the presence or company of family members or friends!

Studies conducted at Cambridge and UCLA concluded that there is a direct correlation between pet ownership and improved overall health, which leads to fewer visits to the doctor. The Journal of American Geriatrics Society notes that pet ownership has a positive effect on a senior’s physical and emotional well being. Additionally, a Medicare study of elderly patients also shows that people who own a dog have fewer doctor visits than patients who do not.

Pet owners have better emotional health and mental wellness than people who do not own a pet. Pets offer unconditional love and affection and their presence alone helps reduce loneliness. For people who are isolated, disabled or handicapped, a pet offers friendship and can even add a element of safety to their lives. Dogs are used as a form of therapy in hospices, nursing homes and as companions for the disabled and blind. In fact, there are studies that prove that people with a major illness fight the stress of having the illness better by having a dog as a pet.

There is new research that suggests that dogs may be able to detect certain types of cancer. Researchers at the Pine Street Foundation in San Anselmo, California and the Polish Academy of Sciences exposed dogs to breath samples from breast and lung cancer patients and samples from healthy people. They claim that the dogs were able to detect cancer with astonishing results and accuracy. The dogs were able to identify 99% of lung cancer breath samples (which included early stage cancer patients) as well as 88% of breast cancer samples. The study, which has been met with skepticism, will be released early in 2006 and published in the March edition of the Journal for Integrative Cancer Therapies. Experts agree that this holds promise, but must be evaluated and researched further.

As you can see pet ownership or having a dog comes with many benefits for an individual. Owning a pet encourages social interaction, reduces stress levels, boosts self-confidence and self-esteem and encourages exercise. Having a pet is a great investment, not only in the joy and pleasure that the animal brings into your life, but the many health benefits that come with the territory!

I need a lot of help using my remington silent dog whistle????????HELP ME!!!!?

i just got a dog whistle in hopes that i could train my beagle to come when called. I know that to train a dog u must be consistant and i do not know what sound i should hear comming for my new whistle. It says to adjust untill u can’t hear it anymore. and then it just sounds like myself blowing into the whistle and even though it is supposed to be silent i just dont think its working. i need to know the proper sound it should make. maybe someone can send me a link or audio clip of what it should sound like. that would be very much appreciated. please dont tell me frequincies ad stuff like that because i still would not know how it sounds. and also maybe u can teach me step by step on how to properly call and train my beagle to come when the whistle is heard. thank you very much and if possible please send an exact link to the sound i need. thank you very much -buggy p.s how long will it take to train my dog.

the whistle is suppose to be so you can’t hear it. it should sound like you just blowing air. put a leash on your dog, blow the whistle, then call your dog and tug on the leash, it should take maybe 1 week, maybe 2
